The Skills Development program is for girls in grades 1 & 2. Practice is held once per week, on Friday evenings, 6:15-7:15pm, starting April 13, 2018. This program is a great way to introduce girls to lacrosse in a non-competitive environment. It is a chance to foster a love of the game in a fun way, while teaching the critical skills of womens lacrosse, including throwing, catching, ground balls, cradling and more!
Skills Development program starts in the beginning of April, is played outdoors, and runs for 8 sessions.
Practices are held at Upton Field on Milton Academy's campus. It's located near the intersection of Voses Lane and Centre Street. For parking, go to end of the field (on right) and there is a small parking lot or park headed into the fields on either side (do not park parallel to lane). To exit, the school driveway is a one-way road, so continue past field, past the lower school and out between music and science buildings.
In the event of a cancelation due to weather, we will announce via email. You may also find the League Athletics app useful. We also have a Facebook page for all of Milton Youth Lacrosse. Field closures will also be posted at www.miltonlacrosse.org in green/yellow/red on the right side of the homepage.
Please check the Milton Youth Lacrosse website: www.miltonlacrosse.org for updated information now and throughout the season.
You are able to update your personal info on the site at any time with your password.
Girls are required to have at every practice:
* A regulation girl’s or women's lacrosse stick.
* Approved lacrosse goggles. You can check the US Lacrosse website, Goggle Page for more info
* A mouth guard.
You do not need gloves they are optional.
Sturdy athletic shoes are a must. We recommend cleats as the fields can get slick
with spring weather conditions, but sneakers are fine too.
NO Crocs, Teva's or sandals of any kind will be allowed on the field.
Please come to the first practice ready to play with the required equipment.
We suggest using the bathroom before leaving home as there is no available facility nearby.
Everyone should bring a water bottle.
Practices are broken in to smaller groups and rotate to different skill stations throughout the practice. Parents interested in volunteering to coach are welcome to register and have a chance to learn lacrosse with their girls, no prior lacrosse experience is necessary.
